Thanksgiving Blessings

Abraham Lincoln, in the Thanksgiving proclamation of 1863 said: "It has seemed to me fit and proper that [the gifts of God] should be solemnly, reverently, and gratefully acknowledged with one heart and one voice by the whole American people. I do, therefore, invite my fellow citizens . . . to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next as a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwells in the heavens."

Thanksgiving should be more than a "one day a year" when we eat too much (again)  and take a nice nap with Seamus-Cat.  As Christians we should have a spirit of thankfulness on a daily basis throughout the year and if we stop and think about what the Lord has done for us, it should not be difficult to do.   St Paul wrote to the Thessalonians:   "We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers."

May God add His richest blessings to your life during this Thanksgiving season as we continue to look to our God as the source of all blessings.
