A Prayer A Day, keeps …

At the beginning of Lent, Pope Francis emphasized the importance of prayer during Lent, as a means of responding to God’s love, “which always precedes and sustains us”. We are also called to hear and respond to the Word of Jesus, in order to experience “the mercy He freely gives us”.

In the Pope’s most recent General Audience he told the pilgrims gathered there that Lent “is a time in which to turn off the television and open the Bible”.  “It is a time for us to imitate Jesus and see a place of silence, where we are free to hear the Lord’s word and experience His call”.  “Lent is a time to disconnect from cell phones and connect to the Gospel, … it is a time to give up useless words, chatter, rumors, gossip and talk and to speak directly to the Lord,” … “it is a time in which to dedicate ourselves to an ecology of the heart”.

Lent is not about making ourself perfect. Lent is about uniting ourself to the One who is perfect and letting Him have at your heart. Give some prayer a try.
