Dear Parishioners:

Another summer week is upon us!  This is a great time of year to be able to celebrate God’s creation.  The lakes, parks, cookouts in the backyard, mountains, beaches, sunsets, etc.  Enjoy!

Please pray for our Catholic Heart Work Camp youth and their chaperones who are in Indiana this week being of service to people who are in need.  What a beautiful display of stewardship in action!  These young people are giving of their summer vacation to put the love of God in play through helping repair, paint, clear brush, mow, and much more.  They can be examples to us, and they can challenge us to be active in our Catholic faith.  We thank them for their service—BRAVO!

I want to congratulate Sister Judy on her 60th Anniversary of Religious Profession.  What a tremendous milestone for her.  To know she has given her life to God and the Dominican Congregation for six decades gives one pause to give thanks to the Lord for calling her to be a religious sister.  Her parents gave the Dominicans two daughters---Sister Judy and Sister Janet, both of whom I have been privileged to work with over the years.  May you continue to celebrate, Sister Judy, your 60+ years as a Dominican Sister of Springfield.  As they say—AD MULTOS ANNOS (to many more years)!

And one more thing.  This Thursday, July 13th, is a special day.  Monsignor John Ossola will be celebrating his birthday!  Monsignor joins us many times for the 10:30am Mass, as he lives at Reflections in Chatham.  We are very grateful to Mike and Vickie Armstrong who are great caretakers for him.  He has blessed our diocese with many decades of priestly service, especially around our area—Little Flower, New Berlin, and the Cathedral.  Again, as above, Monsignor Ossola—AD MULTOS ANNOS!

Your Pastor,  Father Joe
