Dear SJW Parishioners:

Continuing through the sunny days of summer---yeah!  I don’t want these days to go by so quickly like they are.

The days of summer call many to go on vacation, to get away and take some time to relax and forget about work, stress, schedules, etc.  BUT, these days of summer NEVER call us to go on vacation from our faith!!!  NEVER are we to get away from celebrating Mass.  NEVER are we to close up shop as to our faith.  NEVER is our Catholicism to be just a “school year” type of living, just from late August until the end of May.  Our faith is a 365-day commitment, a 52-weekend type of commitment.  Let us recommit ourselves to Jesus Christ each and every day, no matter whether it is summer or winter, whether it is a Tuesday or a Sunday.

Last week was Catholic Heart Worker Camp.  Some of our youth and adult chaperones were in Kansas City being of service to those in need.  What a wonderful example of Catholics serving the Lord through serving the needs of the poor and oppressed.  What a beautiful way for these young people to spend a week of their summer vacation by being there to share their talent and time with those who will benefit.  This Worker Camp has a profound effect on those from our parish and those who were helped.

Thanks to all those in the past who contributed financially and time-wise to enable our parish to send our young people to this life-changing week.

And pray for all those young people who will attend Vacation Bible School this coming week!  It should be a great time for faith, learning, laughter, fun, and much more.  Sure do appreciate all those who have worked so hard over the last weeks to make this possible.  May the Lord bless all attending and helping!

Your Pastor,

Father Joe
