Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker:

This week is a packed one for us here at SJW!  Many things are going on which enrich us as a parish.

FIRST, this Sunday is FATHER’S DAY!   What a wonderful day for all the men of our parish and beyond who accepted the Lord’s call to the ministry of fatherhood.   In this day and age, how important it is for dads to be part of their families.  The presence of a father deepens the family unit.  Let us pray for all those men who are dads in any way—for their growth in faith, love, compassion, sacrifice, counsel, joy, etc.   May God our Father bless our fathers each and every day.

SECOND, this coming Saturday our diocese honors many women in our diocese.  The annual Women of Distinction ceremony will occur at the Cathedral.  Our representative at this event will be JANICE ANDERSON.  She is SJW’s 2023 Woman of Distinction!  And what a worthy recipient she is.  Janice gives of herself for so many in so many ways.  She is our Faith Formation Coordinator, providing all she can for our young people and their growth in the Catholic faith.  She is always there to help whenever they need her in any way.  Her smile and outgoing personality are two of her many qualities that endear her too us and countless others.

THIRD, this Wednesday is the first day of summer.  And that is important for us as a parish.  How?  By dedicating ourselves to continue to come to the Eucharist every summer weekend, whether we are in Chatham or on vacation.  Even though many take vacations—from school or work—there is NO vacation from our Lord and His call to be at Mass each Saturday or Sunday.  By all coming together to celebrate the Lord’s Supper, we are strengthened as a parish family to be the continuing presence of the Lord in the world today.   May we work at being the best Eucharistic faith community in our diocese!

Your pastor, Father Joe
