Dear Eucharistic Community of SJW:

Welcome to a special weekend, the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.  And how much more special this celebration is in light of our Year of the Eucharist.  This special Feast calls to mind the great gift that the Lord gave us---His very Self.  What greater gift could He have given us?  Nothing else could compare at all.  He gave us ALL—His Body and His Blood.

Why do we keep coming to the Eucharist?

Why do people choose not to come?

Why would anyone decline receiving Jesus in Communion?

Why does the Eucharist become a “rote action” at times?

Why did Jesus give us the Mass as a remembrance of Him and not another ritual?

I would ask that each of us take some moments and reflect on the questions above.

Hopefully, through reflection, we will deepen our appreciation of the Eucharist in our lives.

Hopefully, our commitment to its celebration will become paramount each weekend.

Hopefully, we will be inviters for others to come to Mass due to our witnessing to its power and love each day.

Hopefully, each time we come forward will be like our “First Holy Communion” with all its wonder and expectation.

Hopefully, Jesus’ Body and Blood is food and drink that we will never give up for any reason.

May the Lord Jesus, the Bread of Life, whose Blood was poured out for each of us, sustain us now and forever.  AMEN.

Your “Presider at Eucharist” Pastor, Father Joe
