Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker:

What a wonderful time of year!!!  As pastor of SJW, I want to congratulate all those from our parish who are graduating from any level of school.  I am very proud of our young people and their accomplishments.  How fortunate we are to have such wonderful young men and women in our parish.  God has blessed us with their presence.

At the 10:30 Mass this Sunday, May 22nd, our graduates from Chatham-Glenwood and Sacred Heart Griffin High School’s class of 2022, will be on hand to celebrate the Eucharist with us and be recognized by our parish community.  A prayer of blessing will be given to them, asking the Lord Jesus Christ to strengthen and protect them as they go forward.  Following Mass, a luncheon will be served in their honor.  That is the least our parish can do for these fine, outstanding graduates.

Since I arrived last July, I have been very impressed with our parish youth.  Their willingness to be of service at Mass and in projects/activities has been great.  At times we hear that young people don’t care or are not involved in Church.  But at SJW, we have so many that buck those trends.  And I thank the parents and catechists along the way who have been there to form them in the faith and teach them the proper, moral, and respectful way to act as disciples and followers of the Risen Lord.

May all of us as adults thank Jesus for His presence in our parish’s young men and women.  May we pray for them each day, that they will continue to be productive and committed members of the Catholic Church.  May they know of our support and our willingness to be examples to them of how the Lord wants them to be.

Again, to all those graduates in our midst---CONGRATULATIONS, BEST WISHES, & GODSPEED!

Your proud pastor,

Father Joe
