Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker:

We all know what this weekend is, don’t we?  It is MOTHER’S DAY weekend.  Every year we are given this special time to honor all those women who are moms in any way.  Our country celebrates their presence, their love, their faith, their sacrifice, their commitment, their joy.  As I always have said: God knew what He was doing when He made moms!  Wouldn’t you agree?

As you all know, the Lord has blessed me a hundredfold with my mom.  I don’t know why, but He gave me the best mom ever.  I tell her each time I see her that “she is the BEST!!!”  And to me, she definitely is.  I could write a book on how much my mom has influenced me, shaped me, made me the man and priest that I am today.  Her love of Jesus throughout her life has inspired me along the way of my priesthood.

So today, and every day for that matter, let us give thanks to the woman who carried us in her womb and raised us in the faith; the woman who cared for us when we were sick; the woman who is there for us now to listen and to advise; the woman who prays for us in the silence of her heart; the woman whose sacrifices can be seen over and over throughout our lives; the woman who has gone before us and now intercedes for us from heaven.

Happy Mother’s Day to all MOMS in our parish.  May the Lord fill you with His peace and joy.  May the Blessed Mother of our Lord, Jesus Christ, inspire you daily to remain close to Him, as she was close to Him each moment of her life.

Your Pastor,

Father Joe
