September 22

Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker:

Welcome to the autumn season!  It begins this Sunday, September 22nd.  Only three months and three days until Christmas!

Autumn is a beautiful time of year, wouldn’t you agree?  The trees show their brilliance, coloring the world and manifesting the Lord’s creative beauty for all to see.

Autumn days are cooler, letting us feel the crispness of the air.

Autumn gets us putting the shorts away and getting sweaters, hoodies, and jackets out once again.

Autumn brings to mind pumpkins, high school football games, Thanksgiving, Halloween costumes and candy, Blessing of Pets, leaves in our yards.

How blessed we are to experience these autumn weeks.  God has gifted us with various seasons so that we can experience His creation to the fullest in many varied ways.

SO—what does autumn have to do with us as Catholic disciples of that creative God?

Let’s look at the above statements and see what challenges are before us—

Do we show to others the BRILLIANCE of our Catholic faith—its prayers, rituals, and beliefs?

Do we work on being CRISPER in our knowledge of our faith?

Do we CLOTHE ourselves in the Lord’s mercy and love?

Do we celebrate the various Catholic TRADITIONS throughout our liturgical year?

May the changing of our seasons inspire and challenge us to change more from where we have been and are now to where the Lord wants us to be and into who He wants us to be!

Your Pastor, Father Joe
