DEAR PARISHIONERS OF ST. JOSEPH THE WORKER:
Welcome to the month of September! Just four months to go until we hit 2025. Scary thought, isn’t it, on how quickly this year is passing away?
This Monday, September 2nd, is Labor Day. This national holiday celebrates those who work in our country and their well-being. It is also a day to pray for those who are seeking employment. Labor/work has made our country great. It gives one a sense of responsibility, achievement, purpose, and much more.
This holiday can lead us as Catholics to reflect on our “work ethic” when it comes to our faith. Let us do so right now.
L is for LOVE. How much love do we put in our work?
A is for ALL. Do we give our all when following Jesus?
B is for BEST. Does the Lord get our best?
O is for ONLY. Is the Lord the only one we follow?
R is for RESPECTFUL. Are we respectful in our approach to our co-workers?
D is for DUTY. Do we do our duty when it comes to living our faith?
A is for ATTITUDE. What is our attitude towards doing the Lord’s work first?
Y is for YEAH. Do we yell out “yeah” because we are Catholic?
I wish you all the best Labor Day possible. Relax, enjoy, and celebrate. Pray for the unemployed. Pray for greater justice in the work place. Join us at 8:30 a.m. Mass!
YOUR FELLOW LABORER, FATHER JOE
