October 13

Dear Parishioners of SJW:

The month of October is the month of Mary in our Catholic Church.  This is a time to give special honor to the Mother of God.  Mary was the one chosen by God of all women ever born to give birth to the Son of God.  What a blessing for her and for Jesus and for all of us.  She is the model of obedience, patience, suffering, faith, dedication, and much more.  She is a role model for women of all ages and in every time.

This special month should lead us to pray to Mary for her intercession to her Son.  We can reach out to her in petition.  What greater conduit is there to the Lord than Mary herself?

Let us pray the special prayer given to us, the Hail Mary, during these October days.

Let us pray a rosary daily.

Let us reflect on the “YES” Mary gave to the angel Gabriel at the Annunciation.

Let us meditate on how she felt as she gazed upon her Son on the cross.

Mary can teach us, by the way she lived her life, the correct way to respond to the Lord.

May her example inspire each of us to have a deeper relationship with Jesus.

May her willingness to put Christ first lead us to do the same.

May her humility challenge the pride we may have at times.

May her selflessness be reflected in what we do each day.

What a wonderful gift Mary, the Virgin Mother of God, is to our faith.  She put her life in service to God.  Whatever He wanted her to do, she did.  Her life was a FIAT, a THY WILL BE DONE, to whatever was asked of her by her Lord.

Don’t waste another October day —PRAY to the Blessed Virgin.  May her intercession for your intentions be heard and answered by her loving Son.

Your Pastor, Father Joe
