November 9

Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker:

This Tuesday in our nation we celebrate Veterans Day.  What a special day for America, a time to reflect on all the men and women who have been part of our military over the years/centuries.  A time to be grateful for their service and valor and sacrifice.

We are able to gather in our church for Mass each day/weekend because we have the freedom to do that.  That freedom of worship has been fought for and defended by so many.

We are able to express our opinions because we have the freedom of speech.  That freedom has been fought for and defended by so many.

We are able to have freedom of the press in our country.  That freedom has been fought for and defended by so many.

Think of any freedom we enjoy as Americans.  And you can be assured that those freedoms come from the courage and commitment of a veteran.

Do we take time each day to pray a prayer of gratitude for our veterans?

Do we bow our heads in prayer for all those men and women who died protecting our freedoms?

Do we know a veteran who needs our help right now?

Do we say thank you to someone we know who has worn the uniform of one of our military branches?

May we never forget what our veterans have done and are continuing to do.

May we never forget all those men and women serving in our military right now.

May we be proud of the United Stated of America, asking our loving God to protect us, guide us, and bless us.  Always.

LET US PRAY:

Lord God, Almighty Father,
creator of mankind and author of peace,
as we are ever mindful of the cost paid for the liberty we possess,
we ask you to bless the members of our armed forces.
Give them courage, hope and strength.
May they ever experience your firm support, gentle love and compassionate healing.

Be their power and protector, leading them from darkness to light.
To you be all glory, honor and praise, now and forever. Amen.

 Your Pastor, Father Joe
