Dear St. Joseph the Worker Parishioners:
Welcome to the 1st full week of Lent! We are on our way to Holy Week. The next days are given to us to rid ourselves of whatever keeps us from living the fullest Catholic life we can. That means looking into ourselves and honestly assessing what needs to go. We need to remove any hindrance we may have that distances us from our loving Lord.
Let us reflect on the Gospel for this 1st Sunday of Lent, where we see Jesus being tempted by Satan three times. And each time, Jesus resists. An example for us, wouldn’t you agree?
T How TOUGH will we be this Lent in resisting the temptations of the devil?
E How ENERGIZED are we to remove the sins in our lives?
M How thankful are we each day for the MERCY of Jesus Christ?
P How PRAYERFUL will our Lenten days be?
T How much TIME do we spend thanking the Lord?
A How is ADORATION part of our prayer life?
T How TRUE will we be to our Catholic faith each day?
I How INTO Lent will we be this year?
O How OPEN are we to really changing more into the Lord?
N How much NEARER to Jesus will we be come Holy Week?
May the days of this week enable you to reflect more deeply on the meaning and challenge and personal call of Lent.
Your Pastor, Father Joe
