Browsing Fr. Joe the Worker

March 16

Dear St. Joseph the Worker Parishioners:

Welcome to the second full week of Lent!  Sure hope the first days of Lent have been holy and prayerful for you.

Each year in the Gospel for the 2nd Sunday of Lent, the Transfiguration of the Lord on the mountain is proclaimed.  Jesus is changed before the eyes of several of His disciples.  He becomes dazingly white, a foreshadowing of what will occur later on—His passage from death to new life!

Let us challenge ourselves to be changed and transfigured as we journey through our season of Lent!

T      Are we TOTALLY involved in this season of Lent?

R      Do we pray a daily ROSARY?

A      Are we AWARE of where we need to better ourselves?

N      What better time than NOW to sacrifice?

S      What SIN keeps us from the Lord the most?

F      Where have we FAILED to carry out God’s will?

I       How much are we INTO sharing Jesus with our family/friends?

G     How are we GROWING in our Catholic faith?

U      Do we UTTER prayers of gratitude to the Lord?

R      How much spiritual READING do we do?

E      Does ETERNITY in heaven direct our actions here on earth?

D      Will each Lenten DEED you do reflect the Lord of the Passion?

May these next days draw you closer to the Lord.  May you give of yourselves in prayerful obedience to the Lord.  May you open your souls to the breath of the Transfigured Lord!

Your Pastor, Father Joe
