June 30

Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker:

This Thursday is July 4th, that very special day in our country when we celebrate our independence.  It is a day to give thanks to God that we live in freedom.  It is a time to realize the many blessings bestowed upon us as Americans.  It is an opportunity to invest ourselves in making America a better country for the present and for the future.

Just think how fortunate we are.  There is no war on our land.  There is a right to assemble and worship as we please.  There is no dictator or tyrant in charge of us.  There is freedom to disagree and not be killed.  We truly have independence as we live.

                             FREEDOM                        INDEPENDENCE

                             PEACE                             JUSTICE

                             SOLIDARITY                    CITIZENSHIP

                             PATRIOTISM                    LOYALTY

                             COURAGE                        SACRIFICE

                             STEWARDSHIP                HONOR

Let us gather for Mass this Thursday to begin the day in thanksgiving at our ritual of thanksgiving.  Hopefully, I will see you at 8:30am on July 4th.  There is no better way to celebrate than by assembling to remember and give thanks for the freedom from sin and death that Jesus won for us on the Cross.

Your Pastor, Father Joe
