Dear Parishioners of SJW:

The second weekend after Pentecost is the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.  Our Catholic Church, in its wisdom, calls us to reflect upon the beautiful gift of the Eucharist and its powerful effect in our lives.

Just think—what if we didn’t have the Eucharist?  We would not be able to be filled with THE presence of Christ.  We, in our sinfulness and humanness, are able to dine upon the Lord of all creation.  We come as close to Jesus this side of heaven in Holy Communion.

Do we give thanks to our Savior for this sacred, sacrificial meal?  Do we hunger for this feeding each week?  Do we realize the power it gives us in living our Catholic faith?

Let us reflect on this Solemnity—

E      Do we see the spiritual ENERGY we gain from Communion?

U      Do we UNDERSTAND the importance of the Eucharist?

C      Do we see the CARE Jesus gives us through Communion?

H      Do we HONOR our Lord by coming to Mass weekly?

A      Do we ACKNOWLEDGE Jesus as the Bread of Life?

R      Do we REVERE the Lord in the Eucharist?

I       Do we enter INTO Mass each time we come to church?

S      Do we SEEK Jesus more and more?

T      Do we TASTE the goodness of the Lord daily?

Let us celebrate the Eucharist.  Let us celebrate Communion.  Let us celebrate the Mass.  Let us celebrate the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.

Your Pastor, Father Joe
