Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker:

One of the great things about our Catholic faith is that it contains mystery.  WHAT?  Yes, mystery.

We were given that wonderful gift of faith when we were baptized.  The Lord gifted us with this faith so that we could cope with the issues, beliefs, etc. that are beyond us.

Faith enables us to go on being believers even when we don’t understand, or when something doesn’t make sense, or when we say “how can that be?”  And this faith gets to be used when we are faced with a mystery of faith.

This weekend we celebrate the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity.  This is one of the biggest mysteries of our Catholic faith.  And what a beautiful mystery it is.  Our God is FATHER, SON, and HOLY SPIRIT.  One Nature, yet Three Persons.  How can we explain this?  We can’t fully.  We are limited in our humanness.  Our minds are unable to totally understand how this can be.  Ergo, a mystery.

And a mystery should never deter us from believing.  A mystery, something that is unable to be fully explained and understood this side of Heaven, lets us know that we are NOT divine.  We are human, being lower than God.  We need to let God be God.  We need to be aware where we land in the hierarchy of beings.  We are not divine while here on earth.  We are subjects of the all-knowing and all-powerful Lord of Heaven and Earth!

Let us reflect on the TRINITY.

FATHER—that loving, creating, correcting, giving Person of the Trinity.

*How do we respond to that Father?

SON—that sacrificing, teaching, compassionate Person of the Trinity.

*How do we react to the Savior of the world?

SPIRIT—that refreshing, fulfilling, energizing Person of the Trinity.

*How do we enable the Spirit to be felt this very day?

Let us give thanks to God, who is Father, Son, and Spirit—each and every day!

Your Pastor, Father Joe

P.S.  Thank you to Aaron Van Dyke, Joe Vallar, and their teammates for donating back their Golf Outing winnings to the CHWC youth.  How generous of you, guys!
