Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker:
What time is it? It is time for Fr. Joe’s annual SUMMER BULLETIN ARTICLE ON MASS ATTENDANCE! Please read on—don’t be turned off by the topic.
What a PRIVILEGE we have as Catholics to celebrate the Lord’s Supper, the Mass, each and every weekend. This great gift given to us by Jesus on Holy Thursday is not one to be taken lightly or one to ignore. Jesus
didn’t impart this special meal to have people consider it something that
is insignificant. Of all the ways the Lord could have us remember Him,
He chose the Eucharist.
So—do we CHOOSE to remember Him by coming to SJW on Saturday evening or Sunday morning? If we do not, why not? What if Jesus chose NOT to redeem us, to save us from our sins? Wouldn’t we be upset? Wouldn’t we plead with Him to think of us? Well—do we think enough of Jesus to come in prayer and worship to praise Him?
If you know of someone who is Catholic and has fallen away from the Church, I would ask you to gently ask them to consider returning. It would be wonderful if the pews of SJW could be filled with returning parishioners. You never know what a suggestion may do. To plant a seed is what it takes at times.

This week we have the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage moving through our diocese in preparation for the National Eucharistic Gathering in Indianapolis. At various points in our diocese, the Monstrance with the Body of Christ will travel amidst our presence. What an honor for this to occur right in our backyard, so to speak, as the Pilgrimage will culminate in Indy. Please pray that these events will instill a greater love for the Eucharist. Let us pray that our Eucharistic Lord will bring more people to appreciate the Eucharist and savor its Presence more and more each day.
May we commit to NEVER missing Mass. May we resolve to spend time in prayer at Adoration when offered. May we deepen our determination to be examples of the importance of Mass to others. May our witness be just what it takes to get more people in the pews giving praise and glory to Jesus, the Bread of Life.
Your Eucharistic Pastor, Father Joe
