February 9

Dear St. Joseph the Worker Parishioners:

Do you know what this coming Friday is?  If you are a husband, you had better know—it is Valentine’s Day.  That is the day that men treat their girlfriend or wife to a very special day or evening of roses, candy, dinner out, or all of them in one.  Or, at the very least, a nice card and a verbal “I love you” and hug.  OK—now that this celibate has given instructions, we move on.

Valentine’s Day is a time for us to reach out to those we love and express our gratitude for their kindness, compassion, care, love, patience, and so much more.  It is a day for being thankful for the love given to us.  It is a time to celebrate that someone special considers us someone special.

So, on this February 14th, will we think to say “I love you” to Jesus Christ?

So, on this February 14th, will we give our hearts to the Lord in love?

So, on this February 14th, will we think about how Jesus loved us to His death?

So, on this February 14th, will we commit ourselves to the source of all love---God Himself?

So, on this February 14th, will we pledge our undying love to our loving Savior?

So, on this February 14th, will we give Jesus extra time in grateful prayer for His love for us?

So, on this February 14th, will we renew our pledge to be His loving followers daily?

So, on this February 14th, will we bask in the love that Jesus has for us?

Valentine’s Day lasts only 24 hours.  Then, it is gone until the following year.  Wouldn’t it be great to continue Valentine’s Day during each month?  Wouldn’t the world be profoundly affected if we were putting the love of February 14th into action no matter what month or day it is?  Wouldn’t we be happy to receive God’s love through someone else in a “Valentine’s Day” manner?

May the love of God permeate our lives this Friday and every Friday of the year, along with the other days, too, while we are at it!!!

Your Pastor, Father Joe
