December 24

Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker:

HAPPY 4TH SUNDAY OF ADVENT!  This year it literally is only a Sunday, and not even a whole one.  We find ourselves celebrating the end of the Advent season this coming weekend, and then on Sunday afternoon we find ourselves celebrating the beginning of our Christmas season.  Lots of Masses in a few days’ time, priests would say!!

As a pastor, I need to remind you that all of us are obliged to come to Mass on Saturday, Dec. 23rd or Sunday morning, Dec. 24th for the 4TH SUNDAY OF ADVENT!  THEN, we are obligated to gather for the Christmas Masses, later that day on the 24th—4:30pm or 9:00pm, or come on Christmas Day at 9:00am.  There is no “2 for 1” this year.  The 4:30pm Mass on Christmas Eve does NOT fulfill your obligation for the 4th Sunday of Advent.  Sorry!  Never said being Catholic would be easy.
