Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker:

It is “that” time again!  Yes, time for school doors to be open.  We all need to be extra careful along the streets now as traffic will be picking up.

We owe so much to those who have been entrusted with the ministry of teaching.  They give of themselves day in and day out to help their students be the best they can be.  Countless hours of preparation are part of a teacher’s life.  And all this preparation enables our young people to grow academically, physically, and hopefully, spiritually.

Think of your favorite teacher you had going through school, whether in pre-school or grade school or high school or beyond.  That teacher who inspired you, challenged you, corrected you, had faith in you despite whatever happened.  That is the one that you need to pray for, to lift up to the Lord, to ask Him to bless him/her abundantly.

How blessed we are at SJW to have our Pre-School for our 3 and 4 year olds.  How blessed we are to have Mrs. Viste, Mrs. Gartland, and Mrs. Clark as our teacher and assistants, respectively.  They give of their best for our children, helping them to enjoy school and learning each and every day.

How blessed we are to have our Pre-School Board.  They are committed to have our Program be the best one possible for our young people.  How blessed we are to have parents and benefactors giving much for the Program and enabling it to continue.

Let us use the beginning of the new school year to be those good students.  No matter what age we are, may we grow as much as we can, first and foremost in our Catholic faith.  Can the Lord count on us to be those attentive and dedicated students of His?  Will we “pass the test” daily in being His loving and forgiving examples for the world?

Let us pray the following prayer for our wonderful young people as they begin another year of learning:

Almighty God, we thank you for our young people and their thirst for knowledge and faith.  We lift them up to You, asking that You hold them close to Your Sacred Heart.  Help those entrusted with their care to give of their time and talent, so that all young people may become what You want them to be.  We ask this through Jesus Christ.  AMEN.

 Your Pastor, Father Joe
