Dear God’s Holy People of SJW:

How blessed we are to continue to journey through the Easter season!  These 50 days are given to us to celebrate the Lord’s Resurrection, to immerse ourselves more in the life-giving waters of our own baptism.  Let us never doubt for one minute how our lives were changed because of the Cross & the Empty Tomb.

We find ourselves in the middle of the month of May.  May, along with October, are months in which we honor Mary, the Virgin Mother of God.  Mary, the one who gave birth to the Savior.  Mary, the one who was always faithful to her Lord.  Mary, the one who was given those great privileges of being born without sin and being assumed body and soul into heaven.  Mary, the one who received the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

In response to her example of what a true disciple of Jesus Christ is, we have these days of May to give her the honor that is due her as the Mother of Jesus Christ.  How have we done that so far?  Has a rosary been part of each May day?  Has a reading of the Annunciation in the Bible been done by us?  Mary is our Mother, too.  We just celebrated Mother’s Day last Sunday.  Did we include the Blessed Virgin in our remembrance and celebrations?

May each of us pray a Hail Mary right now as we read this---

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you.  Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.  AMEN.

Now, don’t you feel better?  The power of prayer.  The solace of a Hail Mary.  The beauty of praying to the Virgin Mary to intercede for our needs.  Thank you, Mary, for being our mother and the mother of all creation.

Your Pastor,

Father Joe
