Browsing Fr. Joe the Worker

Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker:

Have you been preparing for next weekend?  It is hard to believe that the Christmas season is almost upon us.  2022 will be a memory soon.  SO----

  • Do you have the cookies and pies baked for your holiday celebrations?
  • Have you cleaned your house from top to bottom, so that it is spic-and-span for the gatherings over the next days?
  • Are the presents all wrapped and ready to go?
  • How about those Christmas cards---addressed and mailed yet?

If we look at the questions above, I would venture to say they apply to us in one way or another.  ‘Tis the time to get all prepared for the upcoming Christmas festivities.  But, what about being prepared spiritually for the Christmas season?  Let’s see how the questions above are applicable to our lives of faith…..

  • How will we feed our family and friends with the hope and promise of the Incarnation?
  • Are our souls cleaned up for the celebration of Christmas? As pure as they can be?
  • Will we give away the present of Christ’s presence during the Christmas season?
  • What sort of human greeting card will we be, expressing the joy of these days?

May this last week of Advent fill you with a deepened sense of expectation, as we await the birthday of Jesus Christ.

May we take time to prepare, through prayer and reflection, on what God did for the world at Bethlehem.

Happy 4th Week of Advent!

Your Advent Companion,

Father Joe
