Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker:

Welcome to the month of August!  The summer is going way too quickly.  Can we slow it down a bit???

This weekend is our annual Mass in the Grass on Saturday, August 6th.  I know how much I enjoyed this event last year.  I pray that the weather is good for this Saturday evening.  By the time many of you read this, this Mass will be over.  I thank all those who made the unity of the Mass, the great camaraderie among those there, the food and music, etc., possible.  Many volunteers gave of themselves for the success of the Mass in the Grass.  And special kudos to DAVE & GINA CABAN who chaired the evening---great job, you two!!!  On to next year!

This Monday, August 8th, is a special day for our parish.  It is the Feast Day of St. Dominic.  Our parish is fortunate to have one of those Dominicans among us---Sr. Judy Pfile.  She has been the Pastoral Associate for many years, and we are grateful to her for her ministry to so many of our parishioners.  In this day and age, a parish is privileged to have a religious sister since their numbers are unfortunately dwindling.  Which means---we need to pray daily for more vocations for the Dominican Congregation and other such Communities.  In the name of St. Joseph the Worker parish, THANK YOU, Sister, for all you do for us here, and know of our prayers for you and all the Dominican Sisters.

St. Dominic began the Order of Preachers.  Isn’t that wonderful?  A community dedicated to preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ.  What a challenge for each of us to do the very same, wherever we find ourselves—at work, at home, in school, in church, etc.  May we continue the good work done by St. Dominic.

DOMINIC, PRAY FOR US!

Your Pastor,

Father Joe
