Parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker:

Welcome to the 4th Sunday and week of Lent!  I pray your previous weeks have been productive in your spiritual life.  Our Church gives us this special time to make sure we are the best we can be, and to be the disciples the Lord calls us to be.

This Sunday, March 19th, is the usual day to celebrate St. Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  It is a Solemnity during this season of Lent.  But with the 19th being a Sunday, the celebration is transferred to Monday, the 20th.  Also, the 20th is the 1st day of Spring.  We can hopefully put the winter weather and stark atmosphere behind us for another year.

May St. Joseph inspire us to open our lives to God’s will as he did, so that the freshness and newness of God may be seen in what we say and do—just as we see nature becoming fresh once again with new life.

Speaking of newness, let us reflect on a word that calls us to that.

R  Do we RUN to confession to make our souls cleaner?

E  How much do we ENJOY being a Roman Catholic?

N  Do we see ourselves as NEEDING the Lord more and more?

E  Are we aware of Satan, EVIL itself, tempting us away from Jesus?

W  How much do we WANT to change for the better?

A  Is ATONING for our sins a priority right now?

L  Will we LEARN to be better stewards in God’s sight?

Have another fruitful Lenten week!

Your Pastor,

Father Joe
