This is important time on the church calendar is directed towards preparing us for the celebration of the birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ. St. Joseph the Worker offers several ways to help you prepare.

The Little Blue Book was made available the weekend of Nov. 23rd. This book has daily devotions that walk you through the gospels and has reflections on Advent, Christmas, various feasts, traditions and customs. Check the gathering space for extras that may be left.

An Advent program, Rejoice! Advent Meditations with Joseph by Fr. Mark Toups will be offered. It consists of an introductory video with a daily journal for individual prayer each day of Advent. A 30 minute introductory video can be seen online HERE. The Journal is $3 and can be purchased at the video screening or from Sr. Judy. Consider praying with JOSEPH during Advent.

Lunch and Advent Reflection: Dec. 3, 10 and 17. A light lunch is served at 12:05pm followed by a presentation at 12:30 with Fr. Dominic Rankin, Parochial Vicar of the Cathedral.

An Advent Penance Service will be combined with Little Flower and held here at St. Joe’s on Tuesday, December 17 at 6:30pm. Several priests will be here to participate. Please don’t pass up this opportunity to ready yourself spiritually, for the celebration of the birth of Christ.

Angel Tree: Donate a gift to the MERCY families by taking an ornament from the Angel Tree. Each ornaments represent a child or single mother. We still have several ornaments left so please take an ornament and spread a little Christmas cheer. Gifts or gift cards are due by noon on Sunday, December 15.

The Preschool Christmas Program, which includes both classes, is Monday, December 16 at 6:30pm. The Preschool Board will be hosting a reception following the program in O'Hara Hall. Please join us for some holiday spirit, cookies, and fellowship. Also, a secret jolly visitor will be at the Christmas program!

Children's Christmas Choir: All children are invited to be a part of the Children's Christmas Choir for the 4:30pm Mass on Christmas Eve. Children must be able to read and be able to attend the majority of practices. Practices will be held on each Wednesday at 5:30pm and each Sunday at noon beginning on December 4. The final practice will be a dress rehearsal from noon-1:30pm on December 22. This final practice is mandatory. If you have questions, please call John Kennedy at 483-3772.
