Audio/Visual Ministry
The audio and video components of our liturgies have helped to increase the participation of those in attendance, from the enhancement of singing to the improved view of up-front actions by those seated in the overflow seating. We have a growing need for people with a variety of talents, from the technology-minded capable of learning how to keep our systems operating properly to the artist with an eye for visual composition. Many hands are needed in this ministry to distribute the work. Teens and adults are welcome to join this ministry. Positions are:
-
Sound techs
-
Video/camera techs
-
Slideshow composers
-
Slideshow Resources Coordinator (slideshow archives, images, movie clips, clipart, etc.)
-
Slideshow operators (button pushers)
Praise Choir/Contemporary Ensemble
A contemporary ensemble of instrumentalists and singers serves each of our liturgies. We choose our repertoire with the young of heart in mind, recalling traditions in song presented in updated style as well as new compositions requiring instrumentation and vocal ensemble found in today's music styles. We invite everyone from high school age and beyond to join this ministry at any level of commitment that fits personal schedules. All voices are always welcome. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings, 7:30 p.m.
Instrumentalists
Competent instrumentalists bring to us a means to perform many styles of music. The ensemble is always looking for new instruments to allow experimentation with current arrangements or to add capability for other new music. The level of commitment can vary from performing at all masses each weekend to occasional augmentation. As instrumental arrangements are developed, independent rehearsals for instrumentalists are held. Our weekly ensemble for ordinary time usually involves instrumentalists and singers rehearsing together on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m.
Psalmist Cantor
There is an on-going need for cantors of the psalm at each liturgy. Auditions as well as rehearsals are required. Psalms are typically selected for a series of 3-4 weeks at a time. Some restrictions apply.
Seasonal Choir
Additional singers join our regular choir as we prepare for Christmas and Holy Week / Easter Liturgies. This is an opportunity for those who would like to be a part of our musical celebrations for these special times of year but who are unable to make a full time commitment. Rehearsals are approximately 2 months prior to the occasion. These rehearsals are scheduled to accommodate the majority of the singers. Traditionally they have been at 7:00pm on Tuesday, Thursday or Friday evening. As the occasion approaches additional rehearsal may be scheduled to tie up loose ends.
Resurrection Choir
This choir sings at all funerals. There are no practices as traditional music is sung. We are happy and honored to be of service to families. Volunteers are welcomed.
