Ball-Chatham Community Food Pantry

The pantry provides food on a limited basis to persons who live in the Ball Chatham School District and are in need of emergency food assistance. Pastors, the schools or the Village Hall usually refer recipients to the pantry. They may also call the pantry for assistance. St. Joseph’s participates by collecting food for the pantry. Parishioners may place donated food in containers located in the church hallway.  Volunteers are welcome.

Breadline Sunday

On the weekend before Thanksgiving, St. John’s Breadline holds its only fundraiser for the year. We sell loaves of bread donated by a local grocery chain after each weekend Mass. Proceeds go to the breadline. Anyone wishing to volunteer to sell the bread is welcome.

Faith in Action

Numerous social concerns inside and outside our parish are involved in this ministry.  We worked on Habitat homes and performed works at Mercy Communities.  Adult and teen volunteers are always needed.  Time commitment depends on the project.

Helping Hands of Springfield

St. Joseph Parish provides the evening meal for Helping Hands of Springfield, a shelter and support organization for the homeless, on the second Wednesday and fourth Thursday of each month. Volunteers are assigned to a team.  Each team prepares and serves the evening meal twice during a 12-month period.  Adults and older youth are welcome to participate.
