December 31

Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker:

Did you make it through Christmas?  Did you shop a lot the day after?  Hope you had time to celebrate with family and friends.  This holy season gives us a special opportunity to be extra-thankful for all the blessings God has bestowed on us, especially His Son born at Bethlehem.

This weekend we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family—Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.  This gives us reason to pause and reflect on these three wonderful figures in the history of our faith.

JESUS—the Savior of the world.  He came into our world and took flesh so that we might experience salvation.

MARY—the Mother of God.  She was that special woman chosen from among all women to bear the Son of God.

JOSEPH—the foster father of Jesus.  He was the one selected to raise Jesus and teach him to be a faith-filled Jewish man.

May the HOLY FAMILY inspire us, challenge us, move us, intercede for us.  AMEN.

This Monday is a Holy Day in our Church:  Mary, the Mother of God.  Since this Holy Day falls on a Monday, it is not one of obligation.  However, does Mass need to be an obligation in order for us to come?  This is a beautiful way to begin our New Year of 2024.  Let us start the New Year off in the best way possible, by gathering with our parish brothers and sisters at the Eucharist, which will be at 8:30am.  See you on Monday morning!

May 2024 be a year of grace and blessing for SJW.   May 2024 find us growing in faith, outreach, love, compassion, stewardship.  May 2024 bring peace to our world, our country, and in our families.  May 2024 draw us closer to the Lord and each other.  AMEN.

Your 2024 Pastor, Father Joe
