Dear Parishioners of SJW:

Are you ready?  For what, you may ask?  LENT!!  Yes, the Lenten season begins this Wednesday, February 22nd.  The next 40 days will be ones of REPENTANCE, RENEWAL, and PENANCE.  The Church gives us this time to see where we need to change for the better.  It is a time to have our hearts and souls turn away from sin and to the Lord.  Will we use this spiritual journey to grow closer to Jesus Christ, the One who gave His very life for our own?

Please try to come to a daily Mass during the next weeks, one or two each week.  What a wonderful way to listen to the Lord and receive His Body for spiritual strength.  And try Reconciliation on Saturday afternoons at 3:15 p.m. to cleanse the soul and be right with our Savior.  Stations of the Cross on Monday evenings following the 6:00 p.m. Mass.  Let us immerse ourselves in this season of prayer and fasting and almsgiving.

L    Will I LOVE the Lord enough to pray extra each Lenten day?

E    Will I give some of my hard-EARNED money to charity/parish?

N   Will I NIX eating something each week to fast?

T    Will I TAKE Lent seriously this year?

May we all pray for one another as we together embark on this special faith journey called Lent.

WE ADORE YOU, O LORD, AND WE PRAISE YOU, BECAUSE BY YOUR HOLY CROSS YOU HAVE REDEEMED THE WORLD.

Your Lenten Journey Partner,

Father Joe

P.S.  ASH WEDNESDAY Masses will be at 8:30 a.m. & 5:30 p.m.  Come and receive the sign of the season, ashes, on your forehead.  The Lord is waiting for you to begin your journey with Him!

P.P.S.  We wish Sr. Judy, our Pastoral Associate, a very Happy Birthday on February 20.  May God bless you with abundant joy on your birthday and always, Sister!
